Downtown Condo

A brand-new condo in downtown Seattle had no furnishings whatsoever, but did have an entrepreneurial owner willing to wait for something really special. So while we designed and built custom furniture, and waited for other new furniture to be covered in metallic leathers and sleek neoprene, and for precious hand-blown lighting fixtures, and for a built-in office, the owner patiently endured truly awful rented furniture.

A really special home requires a clear and uncompromising vision. In this case, our task was not to impose a design aesthetic, but to discover and serve our client’s own rich, muscular and elegant taste.

Within a woodsy palette, texture and pattern play across grasscloth wall coverings, figured wood veneers, “gouged” solid oak, darkened steel detailing and glass. Large sheepskin floor coverings beg for bare feet. The sofa is embraced by cabinets that provide extra storage; the metal top of the hall table features a shallow basin for keys and coins. Warmth and luxury prevail. Enlarge & view additional images
